Felpa DOGE

Vi capita mai di stare bene quando qualcuno che vi vede con una cosa indossata esclama:

“Ma che bella questa cosa! Dove l’hai trovata???”

Vi interessa perché succede?

Ok! Vi racconto un po’ usando la storia della mia DOGessa…

Do you ever feel good when someone who sees you wearing something exclaims:

“What a beautiful thing this is! Where do you find it???"

Do you care why it happens?

Ok! I'll tell you a bit using the story of my DOGESS ...

Se mi seguite da qualche tempo sapete che amo pazzamente i cani e la storia dell’arte.

E se parliamo di quest’ultima, uno dei miei periodi preferiti è il rinascimento veneziano.

Venezia per me è la città più bella del mondo e ovviamente, amandola così tanto, amo anche studiare ogni cosa che riguarda la sua storia e la sua arte meravigliosa…

Purtroppo, per ammirare il famoso ritratto del Doge Loredan dobbiamo andare a Londra, non a Venezia.

I ritratti dei dogi furono realizzati nella Sala Consiliare del Palazzo del doge a Venezia. Giovanni Bellini, dal 1474, lavorò ad alcuni di questi ritratti. Purtroppo un incendio li distrusse solo cento anni dopo. Il ritratto di Loredan realizzato da Giovanni Bellini però non faceva parte di quella serie e forse fu commissionato privatamente. L’opera di Giovanni Bellini è custodita ora a Londra presso la National Gallery dal 1844.

Comunque, questo ritratto è indiscutibilmente il risultato più alto della ritrattistica di Bellini.

Giovanni Bellini dipinse il Ritratto del doge Leonardo Loredan intorno al 1501-1502. L’artista nacque intorno al 1433 e dipinse il ritratto intorno all’età di 69 anni. L’artista realizzò così il ritratto in occasione dell’elezione del notabile che aveva allora circa 65 anni. L’opera è quindi il primo ritratto ufficiale del doge Loredan.

Lidio Catti, poeta e giurista di Ravenna (il collegamento tra Venezia e Ravenna mi sta sempre molto a cuore…) ,pubblicò una poesia a Venezia nel 1502 menzionando Giovanni Bellini come il ritrattista del doge Loredan. Questa citazione documenta così l’esistenza dell’opera prima del 1502.

Ma tornando a Bellini e il suo ritratto più famoso… Quello che mi colpisce di più è la magnificenza della esecuzione di questo ritratto: saggezza e distacco del protagonista e incredibile precisione del dipingere il tessuto del suo abito e del corno dogale fanno rimanere senza fiato.

Quello che mi fa pensare molto è….Si, questo doge ha fatto tante cose importanti come governatore di uno degli stati più potenti dell’epoca. Ma se Bellini (e qualche altra artista come il non meno amato da me Vittore Carpaccio) non lo avesse ritratto, sicuramente non lo ricordavamo cosi come lo ricordiamo. O meglio, il nome magari, si. Ma il suo viso, la sua personalità, il suo carisma….? Non lo so….

Scrivo tutto questo solo per un motivo: per farvi capire che dietro ogni lavoro che facciamo noi, poveri artisti-fotografi-artigiani, c’è un pensiero, uno studio, un significato. Proprio queste cose stanno dietro l’esclamazione “Ma che bella questa cosa che indossi! Molto particolare! Dove l’hai trovata???”

Sicuramente troppo complicato e lungo…. Ma che posso fare? Le cose belle di solito non sono quelle semplici e banali…

And if we talk about the latter, one of my favorite periods is the Venetian Renaissance.

Venice for me is the most beautiful city in the world and obviously, loving it so much, I also love studying everything related to its history and its wonderful art ...

Unfortunately, to admire the famous portrait of Doge Loredan we have to go to London, not Venice.

The portraits of the doges were made in the Council Chamber of the Doge's Palace in Venice. Giovanni Bellini, from 1474, worked on some of these portraits. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed them only a hundred years later. However, Giovanni Bellini's portrait of Loredan was not part of that series and was perhaps privately commissioned. Giovanni Bellini's work has now been kept in London at the National Gallery since 1844.

However, this portrait is indisputably the highest achievement of Bellini's portraiture.

Giovanni Bellini painted the Portrait of Doge Leonardo Loredan around 1501-1502. The artist was born around 1433 and painted the portrait around the age of 69. The artist thus created the portrait on the occasion of the election of the notable who was then about 65 years old. The work is therefore the first official portrait of Doge Loredan.

Lidio Catti, poet and jurist from Ravenna (the connection between Venice and Ravenna is always very close to my heart ...), published a poem in Venice in 1502 mentioning Giovanni Bellini as the portraitist of Doge Loredan. This quote thus documents the existence of the work before 1502.

But returning to Bellini and his most famous portrait ... What strikes me most is the magnificence of the execution of this portrait: the wisdom and detachment of the protagonist and the incredible precision of painting the fabric of his dress and doge's horn, they make you speechless.

What makes me think a lot is .... Yes, this Doge did many important things as governor of one of the most powerful states of the time. But if Bellini (and some other artist like Vittore Carpaccio no less loved by me) hadn't portrayed him, we certainly didn't remember him as we remember him. Or rather, the name maybe, yes. But his face, his personality, his charisma….? I don't know….

I write all this for one reason only: to make you understand that behind every job we do, poor artists-photographers-artisans, there is a thought, a study, a meaning. Precisely these things are behind the exclamation "What a beautiful thing you are wearing! Very particular! Where do you find it???"

Surely too complicated and long…. But what can I do? The beautiful things are usually not the simple and mundane ones ...

Si può indossare un’opera d’arte? E magari, quella che rappresenta anche il nostro amore profondo per i cani?

Io a questa domanda rispondo con un capo di abbigliamento molto sentito: La felpa DOGE.

Can a work of art be worn? And maybe that also represents our deep love for dogs?

I answer this question with a very heartfelt item of clothing: the DOGE hoodie.

I created this collage for the poster of my photographic exhibition that I wanted to do at Palazzo Manzoni last March in collaboration with @coccamiemiranda and @ doge.venezia

Felpa la porti dappertutto:

in casa, facendo ginnastica o una corsetta, andando a fare la spesa o, volendo, abbinata ad un paio di pantaloni più eleganti, anche se vai a fare un giretto in centro o a trovare un’amica… no?

Ma che cosa fa la differenza tra una felpa bella e una… diciamo, anonima???

Tendenzialmente ci sono solo due cose fondamentali: la qualità e l’immagine che c’è sopra.

La felpa DOGE è di morbidissimo 80% cotone bio con il collage che unisce il famosissimo ritratto del Doge Leonardo Loredan di Giovanni Bellini e Rubelia di Palazzo Manzoni. Aggiungiamo i colori e il taglio di tendenza…
